Kennington manager Dan Scorer preparing to make changes to his squad for next season

Kennington manager Dan Scorer is making changes in preparation for a league he feels will be as tough as ever.

Ton finished 16th in the Southern Counties East Premier Division after an eventful season which saw them top the league in the early weeks before falling away as hopes of a top-five finish faded.

Ton over-achieved in terms of defying their status as relegation favourites but Scorer felt the character of some players was found wanting as the campaign petered out.

He’s determined to fix that as Kennington get ready for a sixth successive season at Step 5.

“We found ourselves in a bit of a spiral because we knew realistically we were more than safe,” said Scorer, whose side finished 19 points clear of the bottom two.

“I think the ambition of hitting or being in and around the play-offs dwindled when we saw that gap opening to nine, 10, 11 points.

“And, to be honest, it was really disappointing in the way in which we ended the season because I can't fault the majority of the squad.

“The senior players applied themselves fantastically well all the way through the season.

“Unfortunately, we just fell off a little bit.

“Mentally, I think with nothing to play for, we saw the character of quite a few players, and it was disappointing, to be honest. But that's something that we're going to change. “

“That's something that we're working hard to put right already going into next season.

“There will be squad changes. We'll be letting a few players go. We'll be trying to freshen things up and bring the right sort of players back into the club.
