Kennie Carter: Nine teenagers - two aged 14 - charged with murdering 16-year-old

Nine teenagers have been charged with murdering 16-year-old Kennie Carter - two of them aged just 14. They were appearing at Manchester and Salford Magistrates' Court this morning charged in connection with the fatal stabbing.

Jabriel Ferguson, 18, of School Walk Old Trafford, and Rashaun Williams, also 18, of Manor Grove in Stafford, have been charged with murder and manslaughter. Seven other boys, two of them aged 14, three aged 15, a 16-year-old and a 17-year-old, have also been charged with the same offences. They cannot be named for legal reasons.

Kennie, 16, died in hospital after being knifed in the chest on Saturday, January 22, 2022. An inquest opening in August heard Kennie suffered a single stab wound to the chest as he walked home on Thirlmere Avenue.

I've got Kennie on my mind 24-7, right now while I'm talking to you Kennie's in my head, while I'm asleep Kennie's in my head, when I wake up Kennie's in my head.

"Every day is the same thing, we'll sit there, and I'm sat on the edge of my chair every day, and it's as if I'm waiting for something every day - to be told there's been a breakthrough or something. I still even think he's gonna walk through the door and it's all been just a real vile trick that's been played."
