Kemar Roofe Rangers transfer exit addressed by Sheffield Wednesday boss as door left open to loan move

Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore has swerved questions over a move for Rangers' star Kemar Roofe while admitting he his looking to add "different possible dimensions" to his squad.

The 29-year-old netted 16 times last season to help Gio van Bronckhorst's side reach the Europa League and Scottish Cup final, including the vital strike against Braga in the quarter finals at Ibrox to see of the Portuguese side. Since then Roofe has struggled for fitness and missed a chunk of action towards the end of last season leading to Joe Aribo being used as an auxiliary striker, with Alfredo Morelos also sidelined.

Roofe's pre-season with Rangers has been hampered having hobbled off during an Auchenhowie training session leading to the frontman missing out on the pre-season trip the Algarve. He has yet to be spotted since missing the pre-season friendlies last weekend against both Tottenham on Saturday and Queen's Park 24 hours later with speculation ramping up over his future.

English League One sides Derby County and the Owls have been linked with a loan move for the striker this summer. Moore was quizzed on his transfer plans, and the boss did admitted the Yorkshire side were keen on adding to their squad.

He added: "It is fine-tuning at this stage and probably adding a little bit more depth. It is looking at the squad and bringing in different possible dimensions to the team. That's ultimately what we are looking at from here."

However, when quizzed on an approach for the Rangers star he was playing his cards close to his chest. Moore told BBC Radio Sheffield: "I can't be drawn into that because they are simply not our players to discuss at this moment."
