Kelle Roos coy on Aberdeen future as Jimmy Thelin 'gut feeling' had Dons No1 doing his homework early

Kelle Roos says there is "no update" in talks regarding his Aberdeen future, with the stopper into the final three months of his deal.

The Dutchman was brought to Pittodrie by Jim Goodwin in the summer of 2022, and after recovering from a serious injury, when onto play a pivotal part in the Aberdeen side under Barry Robson that produced a late rally to clinch third place in the Premiership and with that a European group stage adventure earlier this season. But like the rest of his team-mates, the 31-year-old's form has dipped this season, with the Reds failing to claim a top six finish in the league, despite their success in cup competitions.

The former Derby County man is one of four first team players out of contract at the end of the season and admits there is no news on talks over a new deal. While interim boss Peter Leven will remain at the helm for the remainder of the campaign, the Reds will have a new man in the dugout next season, with Elfsborg boss Jimmy Thelin set to take up the reins on June 3.

Although his own long-term future at the club remains in doubt, stopper Roos says he has already done his background checks on the Swede, who will become only the second foreign manager in Aberdeen's history after the late Danish coach Ebbe Skovdahl between 1999 and 2002.

Speaking to the media ahead of the clash with Celtic in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup on Saturday, he said: "I had a bit of a gut feeling from quite a while away it was going to be him eventually so I did a little bit of homework, to see what he is like."
