'Keep him away' - Man United fans say same thing as transfer 'target' makes awkward goalkeeping blunder

Manchester United fans have claimed they don't want the club to sign goalkeeper Gregor Kobel after he made a terrible mistake in Borussia Dortmund's defeat to Bayern Munich on Saturday.

Earlier this week, German outlet Blick reported that United were considering a move for Kobel, with David de Gea's future at Old Trafford still uncertain. The Spanish shot-stopper is out of contract at the end of the season, but he is widely expected to remain with the Reds.

The report claimed Erik ten Hag's side have already 'expressed an interest' in signing Kobel from Dortmund in the summer. However, he joined on a five-year deal in 2021 and the Bundesliga giants would likely demand a hefty fee for his services.

While the 25-year-old has impressed since joining Dortmund from VfB Stuttgart, he endured a difficult afternoon as Edin Terzic's side were thrashed by title rivals Bayern Munich. The home side took the lead in the 13th minute of Der Klassiker, with Kobel completely missing the ball as he attempted to kick it up the pitch.

His huge blunder did not go down well with Dortmund fans, while United supporters were also quick to react to the error after being linked with the goalkeeper.

Meanwhile, De Gea recently insisted there are more important things to focus on than his contract situation after reports he has turned down United's opening offer for a new deal.

The Athletic reported on Wednesday that an opening offer for fresh terms was turned down by the 32-year-old, although both the club and player are hopeful of coming together on the numbers.
