Kate Garraway's heartbreaking suggestion from daughter Darcey after Derek Draper's death shared by GMB co-star

Kate Garraway has told her Good Morning Britain co-star that the "clock stopped" as soon as her husband fell critically ill in early December as she told them of a conversation she had with her teenage daughter, Darcey.

Kate was heartbroken to share the news of Derek Draoer's death last Friday, January 5, almost four years after contracting Covid changed their lives. The former Labour lobbyist-turned-psychotherapist. and became ill with the virus at the start of the pandemic in March 2020.

He was taken to hospital where he was put in an induced coma with Kate previously saying how Covid had "wreaked havoc" on her husband's body. Derek spent more than a year in hospital before returning home to his wife and their children in April 2021, needing around-the-clock care.

Kate then announced Derek's tragic death earlier this month and explained how Derek had suffered a cardiac arrest in early December which, she said, "because of the damage inflicted by Covid in March 2020, led to further complications."

Kate continued at the time: "Derek was surrounded by his family in his final days and I was by his side holding his hand throughout the last long hours and when he passed. I have so much more to say, and of course I will do so in due course, but for now I just want to thank all the medical teams who fought so hard to save him and to make his final moments as comfortable and dignified as possible."
