Kasper Schmeichel question promises thrilling end to Leicester history-makers' latest chapter

Leicester City “keep making history” and do not have plans to stop after reaching their first-ever European semi-final.

City came from behind to beat PSV Eindhoven in their Europa Conference League quarter-final second leg on Thursday in what will be remembered as one of the most famous nights in the club’s history. They now face Roma over two legs for a place in the final in Albania.

It is another milestone in the club’s most successful era as the ‘Leicester City story’ goes on, with this group of players determined not to see it drawn to a conclusion, captain Kasper Schmeichel said. European glory could well be the next chapter, with the Dane asking: "Why not us?"

“It means a great deal to all of us,” Schmeichel said after goals from James Maddison and Ricardo Pereira earned the 2-1 win at Philips Stadion. “There’s a lot of us in that dressing room who have been here for a long time.

“I keep saying that we keep making history. There’s always a new chapter to be written. We’ve always said: ‘Why not us?’ We have a big belief in our ability. We have a big belief in the direction the club is going and wants to go.”

This latest part of the City story took a twist as they came from behind in the final 15 minutes having blown several chances to be ahead against the Dutch title-chasers. But while PSV held the lead for much of Thursday evening’s game, Schmeichel always felt his team were in charge.

“We don’t make it easy for ourselves but it goes to make a better story,” he said. “I’m very happy. I’m very proud of the boys.

“It was a tough game. To be fair, I felt we controlled it. They got the luck with the goal, with the deflection, and they didn't really have anything after that.
