Karamoko Dembele earns Celtic plaudits as Blackpool wonder goal proves 'high level' tag can't be disputed

Karamoko Dembele scored a superb goal in the FA Cup for Blackpool at the weekend to continue his hot streak on the Lancashire coast - and he's earned the plaudits of a former Celtic striker.

The young winger was tipped to be one of the UK's best products when he came through the ranks at Lennoxtown, making his debut as a 16-year-old in 2019 under Neil Lennon and featuring for the under-20 side aged just 13 - but he never quite hit the heights at Celtic, and left the club last summer for French club Brest.

It's been a loan spell at League One side Blackpool that has kicked his career into overdrive, with Dembele beginning to show his talents with three goals in 11 games from the wing. And his wonderful mazy run against Bromley at the weekend drew huge compliments from former Hoops man Dion Dublin, who said that even by looking at Dembele, you can tell he's played at a high level before.

Dublin said during the FA Cup tie in the English capital: "He has been good. You can see that he’s played at a high level. He’s a player, you can see the quality that he’s got. He’s comfortable on the ball- comfortable when he’s under pressure as well.

"He takes the ball in great positions, and really uses his height and his power. For the goal, he changes direction really quickly, bombs it into (Kylian) Kouassi, and gets the ball back. It’s a terrible pass to him, but it’s a lovely finish."

And the praise didn't stop with Dublin. Tangerines boss Neil Critchley - who worked alongside Steven Gerrard and Michael Beale at Liverpool before taking over from Beale at QPR when he left for the Rangers job a year ago - further praised the diminutive winger.
