Kapp's bowling blitz not enough as England cruise to ODI series win over Proteas
Opener Tammy Beaumont's half-century steered England to a series win against the Proteas women in the rain-affected third and final ODI at JB Marks Oval in Potchefstroom.
Lightning and rain saw a huge delay in England's run chase, with the second innings reduced to 23 overs, leaving England with a target of 152.
Beaumont's unbeaten 65 powered the visitors to a six-wicket win (DLS method) and they win the three-match series 2-1.
The Proteas could not ask for a better start with the ball as Marizanne Kapp struck in the opening over to remove opener Maia Bouchier for four and Nat Sciver-Brunt for a duck.
Kapp took her third scalp when she bowled captain Heather Knight for six as England stumbled to 25-3.
While Kapp (3/24) troubled England, it was an indifferent performance from the rest of the Protea's bowling attack, with none unable to stop England's free-scoring. Beaumont and Danni Wyatt-Hodge steadied the run chase before Chloe Tryon trapped Wyatt-Hodge LBW for 22.
Amy Jones (49*) joined the well-set Beaumont to keep the runs flowing as they put together a formidable unbeaten 90-run partnership for the fifth wicket to take the game away from the Proteas.
Beaumont ended unbeaten on 65 off 46 balls as England secured the ODI series win with 24 balls to spare.
