Kalvin Phillips starts as Julian Alvarez decision made - Man City fans pick their team vs Nottingham Forest

Manchester City are back in action at home to Nottingham Forest this afternoon and supporters want to see Kalvin Phillips handed a rare start.

Pep Guardiola's side kicked off their defence of the Champions League with a 3-1 win against Crvena Zvezda on Tuesday evening, Julian Alvarez scoring twice before Rodri but the result beyond doubt. It was another astute performance from the Blues, who reacted well to going behind before half-time.

One major blow from that evening was the injury to Bernardo Silva, who was forced off after just 44 minutes at the Etihad. Guardiola confirmed on Friday that the midfielder would be out for 'a few days' and fans have decided to start Phillips in his place this afternoon.

The 27-year-old has endured a tough start to life at City since arriving from boyhood club Leeds United last summer. Injury issues and having to compete with Rodri limited him to just two Premier League starts last season, and he has only 15 minutes off the bench so far this campaign.

But with options lacking and rotation needed, supporters have opted to start Phillips in central midfield alongside the ever-present Rodri and summer signing Matheus Nunes. Mateo Kovacic could be fit enough for the bench this afternoon but is not likely to start.

Phillips' introduction in midfield will see Julian Alvarez moved out to the right wing in Silva's absence. The Argentinian scored twice in midweek and is enjoying an outstanding start to the season, with Guardiola admitting he is among the first names on the teamsheet.

Supporters have decided to keep Jeremy Doku on the bench for
