Kalvin Phillips ‘lays out transfer demand’ and more Man City rumours

Kalvin Phillips is said to be seeking assurances over game time while choosing which club he moves to next with Newcastle and Juventus both reportedly leading the way for a January acquisition.

The midfielder is expected to leave Manchester City next month, be it on loan or permanently, as he tries to secure his England squad spot ahead of Euro 2024. Phillips netted his first City goal in last week’s Champions League win over Red Star Belgrade having started just six of his 31 appearances since his 2022 arrival.

Pep Guardiola has refused to rule out a winter departure for the 28-year-old, who has played just over 90 Premier League minutes all season. Newcastle are searching for a replacement for Sandro Tonali amid his 10-month betting ban.

Juventus are also an attractive prospect with the Old Lady challenging Inter for the Serie A title this season. They too are after a central player with Nicolo Fagioli and Paul Pogba both unavailable.

The Telegraph says Phillips will sound out which option seems best by asking about game time guarantees. Juventus would be able to offer that more readily as Eddie Howe juggles the likes of Joelinton, Bruno Guimaraes, Sean Longstaff and rising star Lewis Miley at St James' Park.

Meanwhile, BILD has refuted suggestions that City have been in contact with Bayern Munich regarding a switch for Joshua Kimmich but says the German giants are not totally against the idea of his exit.
