Juventus trying to tempt Arsenal into sale of reliable regular starter to succeed legend

Gabriel Magalhaes has become one of the top targets Juventus are looking at to strengthen their defence – if they can prise him away from Arsenal – according to a report.

Arsenal have been relying on Gabriel Magalhaes in defence since he joined them from Lille in 2020. This season, he has been a regular starter alongside Benjamin White at centre-back.

Under contract until 2025 – and with White on the books for a year on top of that – that could be the case for many seasons to come. However, there have been a few transfer rumours regarding Gabriel recently.

He was briefly linked with Barcelona before he instead reaffirmed his commitment to his current club. Now, though, another option has emerged in the shape of Juventus.

According to respected Italian reporter Gianluca Di Marzio, Juventus have put Gabriel on their shortlist for their defensive evolution in the summer.

The Turin-based outfit are expecting to lose long-serving leader Giorgio Chiellini. Therefore, they will need someone else to fill the large void the veteran will leave.

Di Marzio has written that Gabriel is now on their agenda to fulfil that task. Like Chiellini, he is a left-footed centre-back who stands at over 6ft tall.
