Juventus looking to disrupt West Ham with Soucek move but price tag could be too hot

West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek is reportedly back on the radar of Serie A giants Juventus, with the Italian media stating a summer deal could be on.

The 27-year-old has formed an exceptional partnership with Declan Rice at the heart of David Moyes’ midfield. Indeed, their tandem is widely regarded as one of the best in the Premier League.

Soucek has scored 19 goals in 102 appearances for West Ham in all competitions since signing initially on loan in January 2020.

His threat from set-pieces is well known, while the midfielder has also won 48 caps for the Czech Republic.

And now Italian outlet Juve Dipendenza claims that the Turin Giants are looking into the possibility of a deal.

The report adds that Juve are unlikely to Manuel Locatelli’s loan move from Sassuolo a permanent one. That then opens the door of a potential swoop for Soucek.

Juve Dipendenza adds that Juventus need players with ‘superior qualities’, and Soucek fits the bill.

The report adds that ‘with Soucek, Juventus could reach a top-tier midfielder who in the last period is able to demonstrate great tactical intelligence and who has been able to fit perfectly into the tactical ways of West Ham‘.

Juve Dipendenza admits, however, that the midfielder’s €45m (£37.8m) price tag would be an issue for Juventus. That is despite the fact that the player could fix the club’s current midfield issues.

Soucek has been strongly tipped with Juve in the past so a fresh move comes as no great surprise.

However, Moyes and the Hammers are almost certain to play hardball over any offers. Indeed, the fact that Rice is also continually linked with a move away from the London Stadium means losing Soucek is even more unlikely.
