Jurgen Klopp roasted as Liverpool boss slams reporter over 'joke' in toe-curling TV interview

Jurgen Klopp slammed a TV reporter for showing a lack of respect during an awkward post match interview for making a “joke” about Liverpool’s early kick offs - and fans have panned the German.

The German was speaking on Amazon Prime following the Reds 2-0 win at Sheffield United which moved them to within two points of English Premier League leaders Arsenal. Next up for Liverpool is a trip to London for a Saturday lunchtime kick off against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

Klopp has spoken out before about the need for more consideration over early kick offs. He hit out last month at the decision to switch the Anfield side’s trip to Manchester City to a 12.30pm kick off after the international break and and said it was made by “people who cannot feel football”. Amazon presenter Marcus Buckland, with former Liverpool star Steve McManaman and ex Blades striker Billy Sharp on the panel, spoke to Klopp post match at Brammall Lane and said: “You go to Crystal Palace with your favourite kick time at the weekend.”

But that was met with an angry response as Klopp said: “That’s really good to make a joke about that, really. It is constant. Now we go home, I don’t know exactly when we will get home. 1am? 2am? Whatever. And we play again. We have two sessions - tomorrow and Friday - so it’s time to recover and then we go again. Crystal Palace play tonight as well. That’s absolutely fine. But I realise you don’t know understand it as well even when you work in football so why should I try to explain again. If you make a joke of that then you’re just completely ignorant. But it’s good, football is entertainment and I understand.”
