Jurgen Klopp reveals Luis Diaz plan as Liverpool set to add more attacking firepower

An excellent month for Liverpool looks set to have an exciting end.

The team has made progress in the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup in January, doing so without Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane for all but one game.

Luis Diaz also officially became a Liverpool player on Sunday, giving manager Jurgen Klopp yet another thrilling attacking option to utilise. Another may follow Diaz through the Anfield door before Monday's deadline passes too.

Here are the latest Liverpool headlines, including details on two incoming players and more heroics from Reds players at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Klopp has revealed Liverpool had been tracking the progress of Diaz for a while.

It is understood the Reds were prompted into moving for the Colombian winger this month instead of at the end of the season, as Tottenham Hotspur made an attempt to take him to the capital.

Diaz has emerged this term as one of the most exciting wide players operating in European football and Klopp has confirmed Liverpool moved their schedule forward to sign Diaz given their admiration for him.

"I could not be happier that we’ve been able to get this deal done and bring Luis to Liverpool," said the Reds boss.

“I have always been a believer in only signing players in January if you would want to sign them in the summer, and that’s very much the case with Luis. He is an outstanding player and someone we’ve been tracking for a very long time."

Liverpool are looking to do a deal for the latest exciting prospect to come off the Fulham academy production line.

Fabio Carvalho is said to be close to completing a £5 million transfer to Merseyside in a deal that would see him return to the London club on loan for the remainder of the season.
