Jurgen Klopp must embrace what he specifically asked Liverpool fans not to do at Anfield
Jurgen said to me, you know, please don't sing my name during the game. It's a distraction.
It was September 2016, and the Liverpool manager moved to address supporters directly after a 4-1 win over Leicester City in front of a new Main Stand at Anfield - urging them not to sing his name during matches because it was a distraction.
He said: "I have to say, because I don't know how else I can say this, please don't sing my name before the game is decided!
“We need to talk about this. Maybe from my personality people think that I like being in the middle of interest (the centre of attention), but I’m completely the opposite. I only accept it’s like this because it’s part of my job.
“I made the mistake at Arsenal (where Liverpool won 4-3 after being 4-1 up) with a celebration too early. In football, there is relief when something is finished, but that’s a big mistake. I told people a few weeks ago, ‘Please do not (sing my name) so for two or three days it will be a story.”
