Jurgen Klopp faces Diogo Jota conundrum as Liverpool consider midfield change

Liverpool maintained their quadruple quest with a memorable Champions League semi-final win over Villarreal on Tuesday.

Fabinho, Luis Diaz and Sadio Mane all found the target as the Reds came from 2-0 down to triumph 3-2 in Spain and claim a 5-2 aggregate success. Liverpool will now look to leapfrog Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table - at least temporarily ahead of Pep Guardiola's side entertaining Newcastle United on Sunday - when they host Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday night.

And here we look ahead to the changes Jurgen Klopp could make when his team are next in action.

Having rotated his backline significantly in the last few games, Klopp may well resist such a temptation this time around.

Alisson Becker has been a mainstay between the sticks, while Trent Alexander-Arnold returned against Villarreal having been deputised impressively by Joe Gomez last weekend at Newcastle. Kostas Tsimikas has been waiting patiently for a start at left-back with Andy Robertson the first choice.

One change could see Joel Matip return in place of Ibrahima Konate to partner Virgil van Dijk at centre-back, with the pair having regularly switched of late. Gomez is another option, so too Rhys Williams.

One surprise in Villarreal was Jordan Henderson starting on the bench. The skipper, then, is likely to return to the starting line-up against Tottenham, although Naby Keita recovered from a poor first half with an impressive showing after the break.
