Jurgen Klopp made his feelings on Jadon Sancho very clear as 'Man Utd exit talks begin'

Jurgen Klopp was open about his desire to bring Jadon Sancho to Liverpool prior to the winger's significant £72million switch to Manchester United.

The ex-Liverpool manager expressed his admiration for the England star back in 2020 when Sancho was still with Borussia Dortmund. During an impressive four-year spell in Germany, Sancho notched up 53 goals and provided 68 assists, catching the eye of top clubs across Europe, particularly in the Premier League.

Persistent rumours linked the former Manchester City youth player with a move to Merseyside, speculation that intensified following remarks from Klopp about the player, even though he conceded that landing such a high-profile signing might be out of reach, reports the Mirror.

"I don't think such a transfer will be possible this season," Klopp confessed in 2020 to Bild, the German newspaper. He further remarked: "The red shirt [of Liverpool] would suit [him] very well. He [Sancho] is a very interesting player. If he's coming to Liverpool I would be the most surprised of all of us."

Klopp's comments came a year before Sancho completed his much-anticipated move to United. Despite the high expectations set by his performance in the Bundesliga, Sancho struggled to hit the same form in his initial two seasons at United, leading to a loss of his starting position.
