Jurgen Klopp: Liverpool boss destroyed Didi Hamann in CL press conference

Jurgen Klopp didn’t hold back when criticising Didi Hamann in his midweek Champions League press conference.

The Liverpool boss isn’t having the easiest of times right now. Under his stewardship, the club have flattered to deceive this season after initially beating Manchester City in the Community Shield.

They sit 10th in the Premier League table having won just two games and are a staggering 14 points off of Arsenal in first place.

It’s a far cry from chasing a historic quadruple like they were doing a matter of months ago.

So, as ever in football when things are going badly, the pressure cooker cranks up and criticism becomes thicker by the day.

The latest to suggest there needed to be changes at Anfield was ex-Liverpool midfielder Hamann.

The German suggested that Liverpool were “lacking a spark” after his former club fell to a disappointing 3-2 loss away at Arsenal.

And it seems the comment of his countrymen angered Klopp, who when asked about the remark in a recent press conference gave a spiky response.

“(Being a former Liverpool player) doesn’t give you the right to say what you want, especially when you have no idea.

“I actually think Didi Hamann doesn’t deserve that you use his phrase when asking a question. Do me a favour and ask your own question. Try to ask the question without the word ‘spark’.”

Klopp was having absolutely none of Hamann, who has been critical of Liverpool under Klopp before, and this reporter.
