The 2021/22 campaign did not quite turn out the way Harvey Elliott will have initially planned.

After starting three of the first four games of last season in Liverpool's midfield, the youngster would have been forgiven for excitedly casting a glance further down the road as to what the immediate future had in store at his boyhood club.

It's fair to say his early selection, particularly in the game against Chelsea in late August, came as somewhat of a surprise to most outside the Liverpool bubble, but inside it, Jurgen Klopp and his staff were convinced the teenager could contribute significantly.

Adjusting with aplomb to the tactical tweak that saw the right-sided midfielder shifting out to wide areas to supplement the threat of Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold, Elliott was in fine form in the early part of last season.
