Jude Bellingham spots surprising Carlo Ancelotti moment before Real Madrid penalties vs Man City

Jude Bellingham has revealed that he caught Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti yawning before Wednesday’s Champions League knockout tie win over Manchester City.

The England star played an instrumental role in Real’s opening goal after 12 minutes, coolly bringing a lofted ball down under pressure before feeding it to scorer Rodrygo on 12 minutes.

He played the full 120 minutes as the game went to extra time with the scores locked at 4-4 on aggregate after Kevin De Bruyne’s equaliser for City on 76 minutes. Bellingham stepped up to fire home in the penalty shoot-out as Real triumphed 4-3 on spot kicks.

Ancelotti was delighted with the win but made time to share a kind word with Pep Guardiola after the winning penalty. Bellingham revealed after full-time that he had caught his manager yawning before kick-off.

Speaking about the Italian boss, Bellingham told TNT Sports: "Our biggest strength is he [Carlo Ancelotti] finds a way to let a lot of boys play with freedom. We're so off the cuff.

“As a man he fills you with calmness and confidence. I caught him yawning and he said to go out and excite him!"

Bellingham - who tasted defeat at the Etihad last season with Borussia Dortmund - conceded how tough he found the match against a City side that dominated the attacking play. He explained his pride in his Real teammates for their resilience throughout the gruelling two-hour slog.

He added: "It's relief. You put so much into the game. I've played against City before and they snatch it away from you. I was pretty much dead on my feet at the end.

"It's so difficult. They are continuously probing with the ball and move you around.
