Journo drops 4-word update on whether Armando Broja will be fit to face Tottenham tonight

Journalist Tom Barclay has rated Armando Broja’s chances of being fit to play for Southampton tonight as “touch and go”.

Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side return to Premier League action at Tottenham, but the Austrian is sweating on the fitness of his top scorer.

With Southampton in FA Cup action on Saturday, Hasenhuttl took the opportunity to rest some of his key players, including the on loan Chelsea striker despite his seven goals this season.

However, with the South Coast outfit trailing heading into the final half hour, the cavalry was called upon to save Southampton from exiting the competition. Kyle Walker-Peters and Stuart Armstrong came on at the break before Broja was introduced seconds after the latter had equalised in stunning fashion.

Broja would end up making his mark on the game when he teed up Walker-Peters for the winner deep into extra-time and set up a fifth round tie with West Ham next month.

But it wasn’t all rosy for the 20-year-old, who took a knock to his knee in the final minutes, with Hasenhuttl hopeful after the game that it wasn’t too serious.

When asked for an update on Broja’s condition, Barclay told GIVEMESPORT: “It’s touch and go, isn’t it? It was a bad whack, he seemed to get at the end of the game, although it was one of those ones where the games finished, you’re filing your report and I didn’t actually see it, but Ralph was talking about it afterwards and I saw some pictures.

“There was a cut on his knee, just above his knee. Fingers crossed because he’s so key to them.”
