Journalist says 49 y/o who's having a "wobble" right now was "definitely" interested in MUFC job

Brendan Rodgers’ links to the Manchester United job has derailed Leicester City’s season, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Rodgers led the Foxes to their first-ever FA Cup last season, but their attempts to defend the trophy came to an end thanks to a heavy fourth round defeat to Championship side Nottingham Forest at the weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked as Manchester United’s manager in November and Leicester chief Rodgers was quickly installed as the bookmakers’ favourite.

The speculation led to Rodgers holding an emergency meeting with senior players at the King Power Stadium.

Instead of attempting to prise the Northern Irishman away from their Premier League rivals, Manchester United owners the Glazers opted to appoint Ralf Rangnick as their interim manager until the end of the season, when the German will move into a consultancy role.

Rodgers admitted he was ’embarrassed’ by Leicester’s performance as they exited the FA Cup at the hands of Nottingham Forest.

The latest setback has led to claims that the 49-year-old is on the brink of being shown the door by the Foxes.

Since Solskjaer’s Old Trafford axing, Leicester have only managed to chalk up five victories in all competitions.

Jones believes Leicester’s underwhelming run of form since Rodgers’ links to Manchester United is not a coincidence.

The journalist understands Rodgers was keen on heading to Old Trafford following Solskjaer’s removal from the hot seat.
