Ian Wright gives simple reason for Cristiano Ronaldo's 'struggles' at Manchester United

Cristiano Ronaldo's six-game goal drought finally came to an end on Tuesday night when he fired Manchester United into a second-half lead against Brighton.

The Portuguese icon hasn't quite had things all his own way since his return to Old Trafford, despite recording a healthy total of 15 goals in 27 games.

And former Arsenal striker turned pundit Ian Wright believes Ronaldo can have no complaints about his recent barren spell prior to the win over the Seagulls — and he provided a simple explanation for his struggles in front of goal.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Wright said: "I think that Ronaldo could have scored a lot more goals [this season] with the chances he's had.

How many goals will Ronaldo score this season? Have your say in the comments section below.

"He's at the stage of his career now where he's a lot older, he's not as sharp as he was and he hasn't got the time that he used to because he hasn't got that pace to get away from people.

"But, in the main, you can't complain with the return he's got because he has scored goals."

United played out a 2-0 win in the rearranged Premier League fixture against Brighton on Tuesday night, a victory that moves Ralf Rangnick's side into the top four.
