Journalist reveals his thoughts on Fulham’s reported interest in Burnley man
Journalist Dean Jones has told FLW that he is not “100% sure” how far down the line rumours are concerning Fulham’s interest in Nick Pope.
Fulham look well on course to secure an immediate return to the Premier League in what remains of the 2021/22 campaign, with the Whites 14 points ahead of Luton Town in third.
Should promotion be achieved, then the Cottagers will be hoping to better prepare themselves – in regards to recruitment – for the rigours of Premier League football.
Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope has been linked with a move to Craven Cottage this summer, as per a report from The Sun, whilst Dean Henderson is reportedly also being considered.
Keeping seven clean sheets in 25 appearances this Premier League season, Pope has proven once again to be an integral member of the club’s starting XI.
Speaking to FLW about the London club’s interest in the Burnley and England shot-stopper, journalist Dean Jones said: “Fulham are linked, I’m not 100% sure that that’s very far down the line at this point and probably just a player they’re keeping an eye on.”
The verdict
It appears that Fulham are starting their preparation for next season early, with this update suggesting that they are trying to assess their options ahead of a campaign back in the top tier.
Marek Rodak has done a fine job in-between the sticks for the Whites this season, however, the addition of a Pope or Henderson will certainly bolster competition levels.
Pope has amassed over 100 appearances in the Premier League, whilst he has been in and around the England set up for a while, and his addition would represent good business from the Whites.
Ultimately, there are some excellent options out there for the club to continue to monitor as the summer
