Jamie Carragher delivers Raul Jimenez red card verdict after Wolves' defeat to Leeds
Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher says it was "all about the timing" after Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Raul Jimenez was sent off in the defeat against Leeds United at Molineux.
Wolves were 2-0 up and cruising before the Mexican was sent off in the second-half. Bruno Lage 's side then fell to a 3-2 defeat with two quick fire goals from Jack Harrison and Rodrigo before Luke Ayling sealed the win in stoppage time.
Jimenez was already on a booking before colliding with Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier and Carragher believes that it was harsh for the 30-year-old to receive a second yellow card from referee Kevin Friend.
"Listen, if he gets there before the goalkeeper, Meslier is getting booked for it," Carragher told Sky Sports. "No one does anything different, it’s just the goalkeeper gets there first.
"It’s all about the timing, reading the situation. When that ball got played through, I think everyone in the stadium thought Jimenez is clean through here.
"The goalkeeper comes flying out and I winced when I first saw it because the two of them are going at such speed. Jimenez doesn’t do anything like his knee is up or his foot’s up, or he’s put his head somewhere dangerous.
"It’s just a coming together at such speed and that now is endangering an opponent. That’s why I was a little bit uneasy in him getting a second yellow card."
