Journalist hints Spurs now eyeing 'talented' star who's 'best in the Premier League' in one area

Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on James Ward-Prowse’s situation on the south coast ahead of the summer transfer window. 

This is according to the football journalist Pete O’Rourke who has been speaking to This Is Futbol about the Southampton midfielder’s future.

It has been another impressive season for Ward-Prowse who has been able to find the back of the net nine times and provide five assists in the Premier League (via Transfermarkt).

And his performances have attracted the attention of other Premier League clubs with both Manchester City and Manchester United credited with interest.

Ralph Hasenhuttl has warned any potential suitors ahead of the summer claiming his captain is happy where he is at St. Mary’s with another four years remaining on his deal.

“Ward-Prowse, very talented player. Probably underrated just because he’s been at Southampton for so long as well.”

“He’s just such a consistent player that there’s bound to be interest in him and that’s why maybe Spurs are keeping tabs on him right now, as well.

“His set-pieces are probably the best in the Premier League as well not just his free kicks, his goals, also his corners and everything else and assists. So I think he’s somebody that most of the top clubs in the Premier League will be looking at.”

TIF Thoughts on O’Rourke’s comments…

We absolutely agree with O’Rourke’s comments on the midfielder’s quality and we feel he would certainly provide Spurs with something different in midfield.

This season, only four goals – across all competitions –  have come from central midfielders currently at the north London club which is six less than the Southampton man.
