Journalist excited as big Celtic development emerges

Celtic journalist and podcaster Ryan McGinlay has urged the Bhoys to capture Cameron Carter-Vickers on a permanent deal this summer, saying a £6-10m fee would be an absolute bargain.

Carter-Vickers made the move north of the border last summer on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. A report has emerged from Spurs correspondent Alasdair Gold suggesting the Glasgow outfit are expected to take up an option to permanently capture the USA international. The fee would be £6m, which could rise to £10m depending on whether certain add-on clauses are fulfilled.

Writing on Twitter, McGinlay expressed his delight with the proposed deal. He said: “Don’t care about his contract situation, he is a bargain at £6-10million.”

TIF Thoughts on Carter-Vickers…

Carter-Vickers has been a revelation at Celtic Park throughout the campaign. He has made 41 appearances in all competitions for the Bhoys, scoring four goals, while he was also included in the Scottish PFA’s Team of the Year. According to WhoScored, he has been the club’s fifth-best player, with a match rating of 7.36.

After several loan spells away from Spurs, he finally appears to have settled in Glasgow. If Celtic win the Scottish Premiership this campaign – they currently have a six-point lead over Rangers in second with four games remaining – they will automatically qualify for the Champions League group stages, which would provide a financial boost.

Carter-Vickers has been crucial to their domestic success this season, and £10m would indeed be well worth paying to keep him at the club.
