Journalist drops intriguing Leeds behind-scenes claim amid huge issue with injuries

Leeds might assess the situation with their medical staff or even look to change their training methods after the number of injuries they’ve sustained this term, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Almost the entire squad have been injured at some stage this season, with the Whites forced to play several teenagers in the Premier League to fill the void left by their absentees.

Leeds’ injury problems have been ongoing through the campaign, with more than 20 players spending time on the sidelines at some point.

At the beginning of February, Leeds Live revealed that players had missed a total of 90 Premier League matches, which has since surpassed the 100-game mark.

Perhaps the most damaging of those have been to Liam Cooper, Kalvin Phillips, and Patrick Bamford, arguably three of Leeds’ most important four players, with Raphinha the other.

That trio have played just 36 top-flight matches out of a possible 90 this season, highlighting how badly they’ve struggled with staying fit.

Leeds’ latest blow emerged on Monday morning when Bamford was ruled out for six weeks after aggravating a foot injury against Wolves before the international break.

If Bamford doesn’t play again this term, he will end up missing almost 80 per cent of the Whites’ league fixtures and O’Rourke reckons that Jesse Marsch and his coaching staff could investigate into the ongoing issues.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “Under the new regime, I don’t know whether they’ll be looking at the medical staff or changing training tactics, but they can’t afford to be having too many more injuries.”
