Journalist: 10-cap international "would be interested" in Southampton move, Pochettino loves him

Harry Winks would be interested in a move to Southampton this summer, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The £15.3m-rated midfielder is out of favour at Tottenham and could look for a move away from North London at the end of the season.

Initially, Winks appeared to be part of Antonio Conte’s plans, immediately coming back into the fold under the Italian after being almost completely frozen out by Nuno Espirito Santo.

Winks, capped 10 times by England, was picked from the off in only Conte’s second Premier League game in charge, and while that start was more down to Oliver Skipp being suspended, it was a sign of things to come, with the 26-year-old a regular in the XI after that.

However, Winks’ game-time has dried up since Rodrigo Bentancur arrived in January, with his only considerable minutes coming when the Uruguayan was out injured.

As a result, the midfielder has been an unused substitute in three of the last four top-flight games, with his late cameo appearance against Manchester United his only outing during that period.

When Skipp returns from his injury, Winks’ opportunities could diminish even further, which could lead to him considering his future at his boyhood club.

According to the Daily Star, both Crystal Palace and Southampton are keen on signing the England international in the summer window.

And Jones reckons that a move to St Mary’s Stadium would interest the Spurs academy graduate.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “If everything comes together for them, I think he would be interested in it, so I think Southampton are on the right path.”
