Joshua Zirkzee's three-word message Man United supporters will love as star's credentials clear

Manchester United fans have had little to celebrate so far this season and the international break perhaps came at an opportune moment for Erik ten Hag.

The victory over Fulham was not overly convincing while the loss to Brighton was arguably unlucky. However, the real kicker was the heavy 3-0 loss to Liverpool which left a dark gloom lingering over Old Trafford.

Looking for the positives from these performances was certainly a task however one player has looked to be exceeding expectations so far. And that is Joshua Zirkzee.

Before the start of the season, United legend Paul Scholes explained his concern about the Dutchman providing the goals the Reds need to be at the top end of the Premier League. While he may have scored just once for United so far - the winner off the bench against Fulham - his display for his national team certainly caught the eye.

Ronald Koeman rewarded Zirkzee's promising beginning to life in Manchester with a start in the Nations League victory over Bosnia and Herzegovina. Within 13 minutes, the striker had his first goal for his country and he followed that up with an assist in the 5-2 win.

This is not to mention he created the most chances (four) out of any player on the park. And yet, in his post-match media obligations, Zirkzee remained incredibly level-headed.

"It went okay, I feel like I made a couple mistakes," he said. "I could have another assist for [Tijjani] Reijnders. We had a good 'click' during the game."

Putting in a performance of that calibre and simply describing it as going 'okay' is evidence of Zirkzee's impressive
