Joshua Zirkzee reveals what Erik ten Hag told him to do before scoring for Man United vs Fulham

Joshua Zirkzee revealed Erik ten Hag told him "to bring energy" to the team before he marked his Manchester United debut with a goal in Friday night's win over Fulham.

After stepping off the bench to make his United bow with 61 minutes on the clock, Zirkzee guided home the winner with just three minutes of regulation time remaining.

The Netherlands international, who joined United from Italian outfit Bologna last month, guided home fellow substitute Alejandro Garnacho's cross. It was the slightest of touches, but one that was enough to evade Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno.

Having failed to make it off the bench in the Community Shield against Manchester City at Wembley last weekend and starting the visit of the Cottagers on the bench, Zirkzee made his mark in the best possible way.

"To win here in my first home game and grab a goal, it couldn't have been better," Zirkzee told Sky Sports.

"I have been told that it is one of the best feelings here at Man United (scoring at the Stretford End) and I am just very thankful and blessed that I could experience it in my first game. It was an amazing feeling."

Asked what Ten Hag had told him to do ahead of coming on, Zirkzee continued: "To bring energy and help the team as much as possible. Just that!"
