Jose Cifuentes has Rangers gloom lifted as he details Cruzeiro transfer decision after six months of 'no sun'

Jose Cifuentes has revealed he opted against numerous transfers to resurrect his career at Cruzeiro in Brazil as he confessed to not seeing the sun for SIX MONTHS while at Rangers.

The midfielder was brought to Glasgow by Michael Beale, who claimed it was a signing that could help take the club to the "next level." But after an underwhelming spell at Ibrox, new boss Philippe Clement shipped him out during the January window with Mohamed Diomande, Fabio Silva and Oscar Cortes all checking in to help aid his title fight bid with Celtic, leaving Cifuentes well down the pecking order and seeking an escape route just six months after arriving.

Ecuadorian midfielder Cifuentes was officially presented by his new club this week and revealed he had several options before making his decison while he also insisted his debut for his new side was the first time he'd seen the sunshine for half a year.

He said: "There were two Russian teams who wanted to sign me. However, with the war that is going on there, it was something that could not be carried out because European teams are not allowed to receive money from Russian clubs at the moment I think.

"There was a team from the English Championship interested and a club from Turkey too. But it would have been a loan for five months which meant uprooting from family again after they had already had to adapt to Scotland, which would have been a problem.

"So I had to make the best decision for them and that's why I'm here in Brazil. I made my debut for Cruzeiro last week and it was sunny. I didn't experience the sun for the six months I was with Rangers. It was always cold.
