Benavidez, a former WBA interim light welterweight champion, made his professional debut in 2010 and promptly knocked out all nine of his first opponents within three rounds. 

Benavidez entered a 2018 WBO welterweight title battle against Terence Crawford still unbeaten, putting his “zero” on the line against one of the finest to ever do it in the category, even if his power seemingly dropped as his opponents improved.

Benavidez lost by TKO in the 12th and final round, fading after a bright start in the contest. After a three-year hiatus, Benavidez last competed in November against (then) no-name Francisco Emanuel Torres, ending in a majority tie.

Danny Garcia, a former WBC welterweight and super lightweight champion who is most definitely headed for the Hall of Fame, is the opponent on the other side of this contest.
