John Stones outlines Man City players' one disappointment with Arsenal win

Arsenal's late consolation against Manchester City was a point of disappointment in the Blues dressing room on Wednesday, John Stones has revealed.

City controlled Arsenal from the first minute in their Premier League title showdown, racing into a three-goal lead soon after half-time, and keeping Arsenal at arm's length throughout. However, with the game won, Rob Holding's well-taken goal after City failed to deal with a corner ensured the Gunners would have something to show from the game.

Erling Haaland would go on to restore City's three-goal lead, and the title momentum is firmly in Manchester, however Stones admitted that there was some annoyance among the defenders at losing a clean sheet in such a comfortable game.

Stones has been used at right-back, defensive midfield and centre-back in recent weeks, and was part of a back four against Arsenal - with makeshift left-back Manu Akanji switching between positions, as well as the back line covering when Kyle Walker advanced.

Explaining the tactical shake-up, and also the disappointment at the Arsenal goal, Stones said: "We knew how they were going to play, and we worked on different scenarios in training. We and the manager thought this was the best way to beat them and it definitely worked. It shows we can adapt and change in a few days in our roles and responsibilities.

"We were very clinical and how we all defended. It’s a bit disappointing how we conceded at the end, but I was pleased to get the three points and we move on. We’ve got such a great culture in us as defenders in wanting to keep clean sheets.
