John Souttar shuts out Rangers 'disruption' as he speaks out over James Tavernier transfer saga

John Souttar insists Rangers don’t have to panic at the prospect of losing captain James Tavernier.

It looks like the free-scoring skipper’s nine-year stint at Ibrox could be coming to a close as Turkish outfit Trabzonspor prepare to return with a second bid for the defender. Tavernier has been a regular source of goals for the Light Blues, contributing 125 strikes to the Ibrox cause since signing for Mark Warburton back in 2015. But Philippe Clement has admitted he must cash in on his squad before he can bring in fresh recruits.

Now Tavernier looks to be the first man heading for the exit, despite having been a permanent fixture in Glasgow for almost a decade. His departure would send shockwaves through the Ibrox support but Souttar insists Clement’s players can handle the upheaval. Quizzed on the Tav transfer talk, the Scotland stopper said: “I don’t think it’s a disruption at all.

"It's part of football. In every transfer window at clubs like this there are going to be people linked with going and people linked with different things.

“I think that’s just one of the things being part of Rangers. It’s going to happen and it’s just important the boys here concentrate on playing football and concentrate on training every day. Anything else will take care of itself.”
