John Lundstram's no mercy Rangers moment has fans raving as midfield colossus unleashes hell on Calvin Bassey

John Lundstram picked up the man of the match award at Hampden for his all-action midfield display.

The Rangers midfielder covered every blade of grass as he helped his side win the battle in the engine room in their extra time Scottish Cup semi final victory.

Lundstram even came close to capping his performance with a goal as the width of the post denied him the opener.

But there was another moment off the ball in the game that almost went unnoticed and it impressed the supporters which did witness it.

Celtic star Tom Rogic was lying crumpled on the turf following a crunching challenge by Calvin Bassey.

After committing the foul, the former Leicester City kid checked on the Aussie as he looked in some discomfort.

But Lundstram gave his team-mate both barrels as he roared at Bassey to ignore Rogic and get back into position to defend the resulting free kick.

And that went down a storm with Rangers fans - who also lapped up his thunderous tackle on Callum McGregor - as the clip emerged on social media.

One fan said: “I said during the first half both teams players were too nice – this is great, someone who gets it.”

Another added: “Exactly what we have been missing for years.”

The former Sheffield United man took time to get going following this free transfer move in the summer but has quickly become a key man under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
