John Hartson warns Celtic to expect 'hostile' Tannadice as Ange Postecoglou Scottish Cup motivation explained

John Hartson has told former club Celtic that they have to respect Dundee United in Scottish Cup quarter-final action - but Ange Postecoglou's desire for silverware has them on the right path.

The Aussie will look to guide the Hoops back to Hampden in Monday's last eight clash at Tannadice.

Postecoglou has already won the Premier Sports Cup as Parkhead boss this season but a stern test awaits under the Tayside lights.

Now out of Europe for the season, former Celtic striker Hartson reckons Tam Courts' Dundee United will make things tense for their visitors on Monday.

But with the Hoops manager keen to score relentlessly and in the knowledge that trophies must be obtained constantly, Hartson reckons Postecoglou won't be satisfied with just one winners' medal.

He told PA: "Dundee United are a very good side, they are not to be disrespected at all.

“They got a good result against Hearts at the weekend and they have beaten some big teams at Tannadice this season.

“It will be hostile, under the lights, and Tam Courts will feel the same, he will want to take his team to a cup final.

"The manager (Postecoglou) wants to go as far as he can in every competition. Unfortunately Europe this season was a big, big disappointment and they will want to get better in Europe.

"And of course you want to win the Scottish Cup. He has already won one cup. He is not the type to rest on that. He wins one cup, he wants to go and win another cup.

“It’s not praise because you win 4-0, he wants to win five. He puts that sort of onus on the players.”
