John Fury believes Deontay Wilder can become world champion again

John Fury believes Tyson Fury’s former foe Deontay Wilder could become heavyweight champion again.

For many years now Tyson Fury has been heralded as the best heavyweight boxer of his generation and perhaps one of the greatest of all-time. It took a while for him to build up that reputation but in his most recent outing against Dillian Whyte, he proved how much further ahead of the chasing pack he really is.

Alas, ‘The Gypsy King’ has opted to step away from the limelight for now and in his absence, professional boxing must continue to search for the very best heavyweights in the sport.

We all know Oleksandr Usyk and Anthony Joshua are in the mix and when they tussle for the second time later this year, we’ll be one step closer to finding out who the baddest man on the planet really is.

A wildcard in this conversation, though, is Deontay Wilder.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ has had a few setbacks lately but at the age of 36, he still seems to believe that he can climb back to the top of the mountain.

As per his interview with Metro, John Fury feels the same way.

“There’s no one out there who can give him a run for his money. Dillian Whyte is a good fighter; he’d give anybody a 50/50 but wasn’t a match for Tyson,” Fury said.
