Johanna Gustavsson claims first LET title on 129th start

Sweden's Johanna Gustavsson secured her first LET title as she claimed the Lacoste Ladies Open de France title following a three-stroke win over fellow country woman Moa Folke.

Banbridge golfer Olivia Mehaffey slipped to 44th after a closing round of 73.

The glory belonged to Gustavsson though who finally won on her 129th start after a closing six-under 65 in the 54-hole tournament for an overall 16-under score.

She only took a one-stroke lead into the final round and embarked in a great battle with Folke with England’s Meghan MacLaren, who ultimately finished four back, also stalking.

The crucial moments of the final round arrived on the 13th and 14th holes.

Gustavsson pitched in from the fairway for an eagle on 13 and her closest opponent picked up a bogey at the next to give Gustavsson some breathing space.

"I wish I could have seen the shot. I just heard the crowd go wild and realised it was in," the victor told LET.

Mehaffey had worked herself into the top 30 with a second-round 67, but it was a disappointing finale as she finished one-over par.
