Joe Hart and Callum McGregor in unseen Celtic embrace as emotional skipper bequeaths his crown

Joe Hart and Callum McGregor shared a touching moment during Wednesday's rout in Kilmarnock as the skipper bequeathed the armband to his vice captain.

Celtic ran out 5-0 winners to clinch the Premiership title in Ayrshire, their third on the spin and their third since Hart signed for the club in 2021. The shotstopper is enjoying a fairytale ending to his illustrious career, and a Scottish Cup on May 25 would put the perfect full stop on it after announcing his plans to retire.

For now though he's still McGregor's right-hand man as far as the captaincy is concerned. And when the skipper went off to be replaced by Tomoki Iwata in the late stages of their rampant win at Rugby Park, his first port of call was the man between the sticks. McGregor jogged over to hand over the armband and TV cameras fleetingly caught a touching moment between the two.

McGregor was seen putting the armband on for Hart before the two hugged and shared a laugh. It may be the final time Hart dons it – though could get to put it on for the last time either on trophy day against St Mirren on Saturday, or against Rangers in the Cup Final on May 25.
