Jim Goodwin in bullish Aberdeen transfer prediction as he talks up 'really good' signing targets

Jim Goodwin believes only time will tell if his bold decisions on the future of his underperforming Aberdeen stars will prove to be the correct one.

But he believes the names identified to shape the summer rebuild possess the quality needed.

The Dons boss has perhaps made more of a mark off the pitch than on it since taking over from Stephen Glass in February with their bottom six Premiership fate sealed with defeat to Ross County last Saturday.

Scott Brown departed shortly after Goodwin's arrival before Jay Emmanuel-Thomas and Michael Devlin were released from their contracts prematurely after failing to make the desired impact.

While stalwart Andrew Considine will end his more than 18 year affiliation with the north east club in the summer.

And Goodwin has told the Red Army that any decision he makes will be for the best interests of the football club.

He said: “All I can say to the supporters is that every decision I make will be in the best interest of the club.

“Time will tell whether those decisions are right or wrong.”

Goodwin will oversee a massive summer transfer window rebuild at Pittodrie.

But has full faith in the recruitment team at the Dons, stating that they have identified “really good targets” to bolster his squad for the 2022/23 season and beyond.

Aberdeen beat off a host of competition to land Vicente Besuijen, who was contracted to ADO Den Haag until summer 2023, on a four-and-a-half year deal in January.
