Jet2 issues Easter holiday travel warning to holidaymakers heading to Portugal

Jet2 has warned passengers travelling to Portugal that they could face “extended wait times” due to strike action by Portuguese immigration officers over Easter. Staff will be walking out from April 6 until April 10, which will impact holidaymakers jetting off over the bank holiday weekend.

In a statement released on their website, Jet2 said: “We wanted to let you know that industrial strike action is taking place from 06th April until 10th April 2023 supported by the Portuguese Border Control Services.

“This strike action will affect both Faro (Algarve) and Funchal (Madeira) airports and during this time the processing of both departing and arriving customers through border control will be impacted and slower than usual.”

The airline has advised passengers who are departing on a Jet2 flight from Faro or Funchal to arrive early at the airport and “allow extra time to clear border control”. It added that there are no planned changes to the flight schedule and that they are expected to depart on time.

Those who are travelling on a Jet2holiday have been assured that the resort team will allow extra time for transfers.

Holidaymakers who are flying into Faro and Funchal have been told to expect “extended wait times” at border control after they’ve landed. Jet2 said that its staff will be on hand to assist passengers and that any updates relating to strike action will be published on its website.
