Manchester United takeover latest as bidder issues stance on Erik ten Hag's future

Manchester United's takeover continues to rumble onwards on Thursday as the three men bidding to buy the club jostle for position.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim are still understood to be the two bidders with the most chance of purchasing United. Both parties have visited Old Trafford this month and both have submitted proposals for the club.

Thomas Zilliacus is a newcomer to the race to buy United having announced his intention to make a unique bid which would see fans own half of the club, last week. On Wednesday, the Finnish businessman set his stance for Erik ten Hag's future should his bid be accepted.

Manchester United takeover bidder Thomas Zilliacus has backed Erik ten Hag's decision to allow Cristiano Ronaldo to leave the Reds in November.

Ronaldo made headlines worldwide last year when he decided to take part in an interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV. What followed was a two-part conversation that saw the Portuguese great criticise Ten Hag, the Glazers, the club and former teammates Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney for their perceived lack of support.

Shortly after the interview aired, Ronaldo and United came to terms on his release meaning the star was the only free agent at the Qatar World Cup. Post-tournament, the 38-year-old signed for Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.
