Jet2 and easyJet issue travel warning to passengers flying to Italy

Jet2 and easyJet have issued a travel warning to passengers amid a planned national strike action in Italy.

The popular tourist destination will see a 24-hour industrial protest take place in major cities on Friday, September 29. Due to the widespread strike, transport both in and out of Italy is expected to face severe delays.

Both Jet2 and easyJet have warned customers that the strike action could affect flight operations. However, Jet2 is yet to formally announce any cancellations or delays and says flights are "currently planned to operate on time".

An update on Jet2's website reads: "We have been made aware that there is Italian National Strike action taking place on Friday 29th September 2023. Details regarding the impact of strike action are still being finalised by the authorities. All Jet2.com flights are currently planned to operate on time.

"However, due to the strike action there will not be as many staff at the airports, and you may experience longer waits at Passport Control, Immigration and at the Boarding Gates. should this change we will update you on a flight by flight basis as soon as possible."

Meanwhile, easyJet has said that it expects "that there may be delays and some disruptions due to the industrial action, therefore we advise all customers to check the status of their flight on our Flight Tracker". If your concerned about any flights taking place, it is best advised to contact Jet2 or easyJet's customer service where they can provide further details on potential flight disruptions
