Jermaine Jenas immediately lands new role just minutes after BBC confirmed he had been sacked

Jermaine Jenas has made the switch to talkSPORT after being sacked by the BBC, where he was a familiar face on shows like Match of the Day and The One Show.

The BBC confirmed his departure earlier today, stating: "We can confirm that he is no longer part of our presenting line up."

Shortly after this announcement, Jenas appeared on talkSPORT, co-hosting the Drive show alongside former Liverpool player Jermaine Pennant. This marked his first time hosting for the station, although he had previously been a guest.

Jenas' rise at the BBC saw him regularly contributing as a pundit and even leading MOTDx before its production ended last season. His sudden exit from the BBC, which was revealed on Thursday, caught many off-guard, especially since he was seen as a potential successor to Gary Lineker for the Match of the Day anchor role.

The Sun reported that Jenas was let go due to 'allegations of inappropriate behaviour', noting his last appearance on The One Show with Alex Jones was on July 22.

Jenas had recently been involved in the BBC's coverage of Euro 2024 and Formula E. He has long combined his work with the BBC with punditry work with TNT Sports, too, and was on co-commentary duties at the weekend for their coverage of Liverpool's win over Ipswich Town on the opening weekend of the season.

Sky has slashed the price of its Sky Sports, Sky Stream, Sky TV and Netflix bundle in an unbeatable new deal that saves £216 and includes 1,400 live matches across the Premier League, EFL and more.
