Jeremie Frimpong can't hide his Celtic feelings as Bayer Leverkusen Treble question takes him back

Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong couldn't hide his smile during a throwback to his Treble winning season at Celtic.

Frimpong only spent 18 months in Glasgow's east end after leaving Manchester City but he made a major impact in the Premiership and his time left a lasting impression on the rampaging fullback before his £11.5m move to Germany - lifting a clean sweep of silverware in Scotland during the 2019-20 campaign before making the switch to Leverkusen. The 23-year-old is now on the brink of lifting the Bundesliga title as a key part of Xabi Alonso's side - and could claim a another career Treble if Leverkusen lift the Europa League and DFB-Pokal as well.

Speaking to TNT Sports with Leverkusen in action against English Premier League side West Ham - and now taking a 2-0 lead into the second leg - Frimpong was reminded of his Celtic heroics. The Netherlands international was asked: "You have experience of winning a Treble in your career when you were in Scotland, have you thought about it? Have you dared to dream?"

The brought a smirk out of Frimpong, who went on: “Yeah. Of course I’ve thought, but it’s going to be very difficult to win the Europa League, the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal. It’s all high level and going to be very difficult, but who doesn’t want to win the Treble?

“You always have the ‘never give up’ mentality which is important. It’s something within our team - patience. When there’s patience, it comes.”
