Jeremie Frimpong asked about his future amid Manchester United transfer links

Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong has left the door open to a summer move amid links to Manchester United.

Frimpong joined Manchester City's academy aged nine before permanently joining Celtic in 2019. The right-back spent almost two seasons in Scotland and he eventually made a switch to Bayer Leverkusen in the 2021 January transfer window.

The 22-year-old has progressed in the Bundesliga and he's made 35 starts this term, whilst he was also included by former United boss Louis van Gaal in the Netherlands' squad for the World Cup, although he did not make an appearance in Qatar.

Frimpong, who has notable attacking quality for a right-back, has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford and he was asked by Sport 1 about his future plans following Bayer Leverkusen's match on Thursday night.

“I don’t know when I will decide about my future. I’m just concentrating on Leverkusen and the upcoming games,” Frimpong said.

Although Diogo Dalot was considered the first-choice right-back by Ten Hag at the start of the season, a once-unlikely battle with Aaron Wan-Bissaka has developed and the English defender seems to be winning the contest lately.

The Dutchman has said about their battle to start: "I think it's really close, the competition between them. Maybe Aaron [Wan-Bissaka gives you a little bit more defending, Diogo [Dalot] gives you maybe a little more offence.

“But I have to say I think they both have made progress in both areas, so it's really close. You look at the opponent, you look at the load on the players and you have to manage that when you have two almost-equal players.
