Jayden Donald becomes Letham's youngest ever scorer with goal against Forfar West End

Keen-to-impress Jayden Donald had an afternoon to remember on Saturday when he became Letham’s youngest ever scorer.

The 16-year-old completed the scoring in a 5-2 Midlands League win against Forfar West End at Seven Acres.

Freezing conditions could not prevent the game from getting the green light and the Perth side left their visitors feeling cold by running out deserving victors.

It was the only fixture in the league to get the nod and Letham made sure to take advantage by nudging into the lead in the first minute.

That was when Paul McConnachie slammed the ball into the net from Aidan Edwards’ cut-back.

One became two in the 22nd minute thanks to forward Kacper Przeslica, who kept his composure to run in on goal and finish well low into the corner of the net.

Forfar West End had a route back into the game via Adam Storrar’s own goal and then levelled in what went down as a “crazy” 10 minute spell.

But the lead was restored before the half-time whistle when Shaun Simpson slammed home from the edge of the box.

Breathing space arrived in the 66th minute with Letham grabbing a fourth and Simpson his second of the game. He finished off a clever team goal.

Youngster Donald, just 16, entered the action and was causing havoc. He deservedly rounded off the scoring in the final minute much to his - and everyone’s - delight. It was a great finish on the volley from James Wilkie’s delivery.

Fellow 16-year-old Corey Sweeney also received game-time and, like Donald, impressed.

Letham sit ninth in the Midlands League table and have their sights set on closing the gap on numerous teams directly above them through the festive period.
