Jay Fulton's late strike sees Swansea City edge past West Bromwich Albion
Jay Fulton's first goal for nearly 13 months handed Swansea City a fourth straight home win at the expense of West Bromwich Albion.
The midfielder came off the bench to net a sweet 25-yard strike 16 minutes from time to seal the points for the hosts, who are now on their strongest run of home form since October 2022.
This win, their fifth in seven games, moves Swansea up to 15th in the Championship table, with the gap between themselves and the relegation zone now standing at eight points.
It's the same cushion separating Swansea from the top six, and while a play-off charge still feels unlikely, Vitor Matos will surely feel confident his side can continue to climb the table.
Injury concerns to Josh Key and Ronald may well have taken some of the gloss off this win, but there were still plenty of positives to point to on another successful afternoon.
Matos caused a bit of a stir in his team selection for this one, making four changes from the win over Oxford United, his first on the road since taking over towards the end of November, naming a side without a recognised striker here.
Zan Vipotnik, who netted the second-fastest goal in Championship history when these two sides last met in November, started from the bench. And with Liam Cullen and Adam Idah both injured, Melker Widell was the man seemingly tasked with leading a front four that had just eight Championship goals between them.
The decision to start Ethan Galbraith from the bench might well have been just as surprising, and while Swansea were once again impressive on the press, there was a lack of creative spark in a tightly-contested first half.
Marko Stamenic arguably came closest to opening the scoring before the break. His rasping effort from the edge of the area
